Evelyn + Thatcher kept me moving during this shoot. I do a lot of kids’ sessions and I never know what to expect. Sometime the kids are bashful and avoid the camera, and sometimes they can’t wait to show me their dance moves, cartwheels and precious smiles. Evelyn and Thatcher gave me a little bit of both. Evelyn loved the camera [it also loved her] and Thatcher did everything he could to avoid it. But what I love most about this session is that I think it really tells a story of these two. They were running, they were laughing, making silly faces, digging in the dirt and loving every moment of it. That’s life. That’s real. And that is beautiful. When I take photographs, I want people to look back and remember that moment just as it was. Not a moment that was staged but instead a moment in time that we stumble upon. That’s where beautiful memories are made…in each and every one of those little moments.
