When I first met Jess + Jason last year to discuss their wedding, we discovered our mutual love for Sedona and spent more time chatting about that than the wedding itself. They booked me almost immediately to photograph their intimate wedding here in town. But about six months into the planning process, I got an email from Jess saying this wedding isn’t really what their hearts desired. All they really wanted was to feel the Sedona earth under their feet as the said their vows in front of their beloved people. It didn’t take any thought at all, I was obviously honored and delighted to join them in our mutual favorite place.
The days leading up to the wedding and the wedding day itself did not quite go as planned for these two. Too many misadventures and mishaps piled on more stress than anticipated. But as we approached the ceremony hour, all of that subsided as we hiked the short trail and surrounded these two. The amount of sentiment and intention that went into this day was incredible. In a dress made by the bride’s brother (she did the bead work) and a ceremony officiated by Jason’s mother, the level of emotion and elation was absolutely contagious. I brought a friend along on this trip and we truly felt like guests ourselves. Jess + Jason and their wonderful friends and family welcomed us, leaving me with a permanent level of gratitude for this experience.
So many thanks to these two for entrusting me to capture their day in a place that inspires me endlessly.
